1. We were unfamiliar with the area & knew that base housing was safe - you have to have a military ID to get on base.
2. The lower apartments have fenced in yards, which we really needed for our pups.
Sadly... The yard is super tiny. I would really love to move off base & have a big yard for the pups to run around all day. I think they would be much happier. But right now we are in a lease and it would be a huge pain to move anyway - so I'm not worrying about it.
When we moved in, we painted the living room, front hall & kitchen/dining room. It makes me feel much more at home now that I'm not staring a cold, white walls! The only room of the house that is REALLY pitiful is the Master bedroom, we don't have a thing on the walls... but hopefully that will come in time!
I took these photos exactly 2 months after we moved in... things are starting to look homey :)
This photo is as soon as you walk in the front door. The kitchen is to the right of this picture and the doorway leads to the laundry room.
This is straight ahead as you come in the front door. The HUGE laundry room is the doorway to the right and the coat closet is the one to the left. The closet straight ahead is for storage.
This is the living room with our new Ikea seating! The living room is at the end of the entry hallway and leads out to the yard on the right. I am still looking for something to do with the huge wall space behind the sofa.
This is the view to the right of the sofa, the sliding doors to the tiny yard. Luke is hamming it up, front and center!
On this side of the living room you can walk into the "nook" or office area.
This is the "nook" office area. It is right between the living room and dining room. We have the desk, dog crate, book shelf and mini fridge in here. It USED to house the futon... sadly the dogs had other plans for the futon...
Other side of the nook (and Luke's tail)
This is the dining room (picture taken from the doorway to the nook). The sliding glass doorway leads out to the same yard, this side has a brick patio.
The dining room is separated from the kitchen by a slim bar behind the stove. This is a view standing in the same place I took the photo of the dining room. I LOVE the popped out window behind the sink. All of my herbs live there!
Here is a view of the other half of the kitchen and into the entrance hall.
Master bedroom. Pitiful, I know... at least that door to the right is a walk in closet :)
Our one and only bathroom. It is between the master bedroom and the guest bedroom.
This is the view from the doorway of the guest bedroom. Lucy has been loving her new cat tree! The top ledge is actually her favorite :)
This is the other half of the guest bedroom. Both this window and the master bedroom window have a lovely view of our garage and our upstairs neighbor's garage out front.
That's it! We haven't had many visitors to our new home, so it's nice to show it off.
