Howe Farm

This weekend was Tim's last before starting unpleasant, 7 day a week, 2nd shift work for the next two-ish months. We wanted to make the most out of it, so we took the pups to Howe Farm, an incredible off-leash dog park in Port Orchard. They had a blast & wore themselves out for the rest of the day.
This dog park is incredible! The one in Silverdale is awful - mostly compact dry earth/gravel and irresponsible owners. The few times we have been there have been disastrous and the vibe there is just bad. I probably won't ever take my babies there again.

Howe Farm, on the other hand, is pup heaven! The off-leash area is (as best I can find online) around 10 acres & entirely fenced in. There are nice benches, a large wooded area with streams, creeks, paths & bridges, a field where the pups can fetch a stick or just run wild, and lots of nice people! We are insanely impressed with this place & just wish it weren't 30 minutes away!
I took lots of pictures of our happy babies & I'll post them at the end.

After Luke and Leia wore themselves out, we brought them home to rest while we had a lazy afternoon eating left over tomato soup & grilled cheeses while watching a few episodes of LOST on Netflix. Super relaxing :)

Saturday night we went out to dinner - probably our last in quite some time with Tim's new schedule - at Applebee's and then caught the 7:30 showing of Snow White and the Huntsman at the AMC across the street.
I have to say, we both really enjoyed Snow White! I was most impressed by how beautiful the whole movie was! Each scene was breathtaking!

Sunday we tried a new local church, New Life Christian Church. It is held at a local high school, but that didn't deter from the service. We really liked it & I am going to go back on my own next week since Tim will be working that day :(
The only other big event for Sunday (besides almost winning monopoly, only to have Tim land on FREE PARKING and take the whole game) was that it was our first meat-less dinner! We (maybe just me) are excited to be on the gradual journey to eliminate meat from our diet. Last night we tried leeks for the first time and our verdict is: TASTY! They were also very filling when paired with lentils.
We were starving, so I didn't bother taking a picture; however, here is a link to the recipe:

Ours looked the same, I just could only find green lentils at the commissary.

And, with that said, here are the pups enjoying the day at Howe Farm:
Tim & I enjoy Howe Farm as much as Luke & Leia.

On the trails

The pups are constantly on the move, they are blurry in almost every shot!

Having fun in the creek, Leia jumps right in and splashes around. In this picture she is actually emerging from the underbrush - she followed the creek for about 20 feet in before we made her come back! Luke doesn't like to get wet, he just stood at the edge and lapped up the tasty water.

Clearly Leia didn't mind the creek and mud. No this isn't splashed onto her legs - she walked through mud  where she SANK in half way up her legs. She thought it was fantastic!

Headed out the the field to throw a stick (and hopefully wipe off some mud)

waiting patiently
I am teaching the pups to have better manners, and sitting before we throw a stick/frisbee/ball is one of their new skills. Leia is better at it than Luke.

The sequence of events (it is ALWAYS the same):
1. Tim throws stick
2. Leia retrieves stick
3. Luke tries to steal the stick and pretend he fetched it
4. Luke SOMETIMES bring the stick back (sometimes he runs past us)

Luke trying to act all cool, like he did the work.

Romping in the field.

The result of playing all day!
